Funding & Support

The Farming Advice Service helps farmers navigate the range of grants and schemes to support increased productivity and managing land to benefit the environment and rural areas. We also highlight support available for business resilience, on-farm safety and physical and mental wellbeing.

On this page you will find FAS content and updates on the funding and support available to farmers and land managers.

  • Managing land to benefit the environment, including protected species and habitats
  • Investing in equipment, technology and infrastructure to increase productivity
  • Improving water quality and air quality, and reducing flood risk
  • Improving animal health and welfare
  • Creating or improving trees and woodland
  • Business planning for resilience
  • Farm safety and wellbeing

Across England, farming has moved away from the European Union’s (EU) Common Agricultural Policy and to Environmental Land Management Schemes instead. Direct payments have been replaced by delinked payments and with this ending in 2027, the released funds are being redirected into new schemes including the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) and Countryside Stewardship (CS).
Whilst not all schemes will be relevant for all farming types, it is important to keep up-to-date with what is available to ensure no opportunities are missed.
