A chance for you to make sure that your calculations are up to date and correct, followed by advice on different ways to increase your storage. Please make sure to bring the below information needed to calculate your slurry storage:
• Area of farm accessible for grazing or spreading manures.
• No. of cows in milk and annual average herd yield.
• Dimensions of current slurry stores (lagoons, concrete stores, tin tanks, slurry bags.)
• Slurry separator installed? If yes % volume reduction.
• Parlour washings to slurry store? If yes, how many lit/cow/day, e.g. 20 – 30
• Areas of uncovered yards which drain or are scraped into the slurry system.
• Areas of roofs which drain into the slurry system.
• Nos. of each class of livestock and the % of their manure collected as slurry whilst housed.
• % of time spent grazing vs. housed per month.
Please bring a laptop/iPad and download Slurry Wizard prior to arrival if possible. If this is not possible there will be some laptops available for use on the day.
